British Hardwoods machinist James Bowdin has this week received his NVQ Level 3 in wood machining. Hardworking James has spent 2 years working towards the qualification and can now boast a number of woodworking awards including furniture production, wood machining, joinery and applied numeracy. The course specialised in producing sawn, planed and profiled products, resolving wood machining problems, producing computer controlled machinery products, maintaining machinery and equipment, reducing risks to health and safety and optimising the performance of machinery, equipment and processes.

The majority of James’ course was completed in our factory as well as attending some sessions with the North Lancashire Training Group. James’ most recent achievements can be added to his NVQ level 2, Weinig machining training award, first aid, forklift truck and chainsaw license qualifications, and now ensures that he is as qualified as he can be in the wood machining field. This added to 9 years of machining experience at British Hardwoods guarantees only the most capable of hands will be manufacturing our hardwood products.

Well done to James from all at British Hardwoods! All he needs now are some frames to put the plethora of certificates in… maybe he should put his skills to good use and machine some specially!
