Prime Grade Waney Edged Oak


Here at British Hardwoods we understand how important it is to achieve low wastage factors and good cutting from Waney Edged boards. We only stock the very best quality boules, cut from straight clean logs with a narrow sap band.

2 Square Edged Oak
(calibrated) QF 2/3 Grade

Oak purchased in this form represents excellent value for money as not only is this product offered at a low price but it is available in a variety of lengths and widths, it’s also calibrated (pre-planed) giving a very straight board with 100% useability. Also worthy of note is the fact that we allow customers to select their own boards. However overnight stays are not usually encouraged!

Prime Grade 2 Square Edged Oak

If it’s no waste and perfect defect free Oak is what you are looking for then this is the selection for you. Each board is exceptionally straight and flat with no splits, checks or knots, the ends have usually been waxed to prevent degrade during the drying process. Boards can be self selected, but this is not normally necessary.

Brown Oak

Selecting through a pack of our Brown Oak is an experience not to be missed, as each pack contains an amazing selection of Brown Oak, Streaky Tiger Oak, Pippy Brown Oak & Quarter Sawn Brown Oak. If you have a special project in mind then come along and hand pick some unique boards. Once again this is a two square edged product which is often calibrated, representing excellent value for this highly unusual timber.

Oak Squares
100\80mm

This product is ideally suited for table legs. The 100mm squares have a hole bored right through the centre to aid drying and are 750mm long with zero defects.

Figured/Quarter Sawn Oak

The most stable of all cuts, these boards are available with two square edges up to 200mm wide and are all hand selected for their figure. Once again most of our customers enjoy further selection to find that special board to suit their particular project.

Pippy Oak
(Cats Paw Oak)

Our packs of Pippy Oak contain boards varying from light pip to heavy pip/burr, so customers usually like to turn every board right to the bottom of the pack only to walk away with the first board they picked!
