Whether you require a single oak beam for above your fireplace, several sawn oak beams for your garden or a large quantity of hand planed oak beams for a restoration project - we can provide the perfect beam solution.
Our oak beams have been air dried for five years, developing a natural aged appearance with characterful cracks and splits. The beams can be supplied with a sawn or hand planed finish. Hand planing reverts the oak back to its natural light colour from the darker, weathered appearance that sawn beams have - the beams will still have plenty of natural knots and splits. All of our air dried oak beams can be resized to suit your specific requirements. We are now able to offer D30 and D40 strength-graded beams at 150mm x 150mm and above. If your project requires strength-graded beams - please contact us for pricing and availability.
We can also cut fresh sawn oak beams to order. Fresh sawn oak beams, also known as 'green oak' beams, start seasoning as soon as they are felled. Changes in colour and the appearance of cracks and splits will occur during this drying process. Green oak takes approximately 1 year per inch to dry, so a standard green oak beam could take as long as 5 years to fully dry out.
