We are offering 7m² of our 200mm wide Fumed Character Grade Oak Flooring at a reduced price. After machining, the boards are fumed, a chemical process which darkens the wood, creating a pleasing mix of dark oak shades*. This character grade floor contains some splits, checks and open knots of varying sizes up to 50mm in diameter.
* IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT FUMING: Fuming is a chemical process which darkens the oak in a natural way - as an alternative to staining. Different boards and different batches of timber will react differently to the fuming process, and as such the wood will not have a uniform colour. Photographs on the website and samples are provided for guidance only.
The floorboards are tongue and grooved on all four edges, and average board length is about 2 to 2½ metres. The boards are have been sanded smooth and ready for your choice of finishing.
Our Fumed Character Oak Flooring is manufactured in our temperature controlled factory in Yorkshire. The wood is kiln-dried to a moisture content of 8-10%, thus making it compatible for use within a warm, dry property. We pre-plane the boards before final machining which results in accurately machined floorboards which are extremely straight, flat and a pleasure to fit. Mass produced imported floors are not made, or quality controlled, to the same high standards as a British Hardwoods wood floor.
