Calibrated QF3 Grade Two-Square Edged Oak 23mm (per cubic foot)
A character grade of Calibrated French Oak with open knots up to 40mm in diameter with some small splits and checks. Our calibrated oak timber is supplied by the cubic foot in full sized boards. The boards are supplied in random widths, typically between 190mm to 210mm, depending on stock availability. The board lengths tend to be about 1.8 metres to 2.4 metres, but again may vary due to stock availability.
Our calibrated boards have had a fast pre-plane to bring the timber to a regular size. If you require timber in specific widths or with a fully planed finish, we would recommend our planed all round oak timber.
Please note: A more detailed description of the grading of this timber is outlined below, however, if you would like further information please contact us on 01535 637755.
Calibrated French Oak QF3 timber is a characterful grade with open knots up to 40mm in diameter with some small splits and checks. The boards are kiln dried to 9-11% moisture content and carefully stored in our heated and acclimatised factory.
The QF3 grade quality adheres to the following criteria:
"Three knots less than 40mm are permitted in pieces with a width less than 120mm and one extra knot for every additional 40mm in width in case of wider pieces. Tolerance for one dead or unsound knot less than 20mm and wane less than 3mm. Excluded: bark pocket, brown pith, rot holes, boxed heart or exposed pith, included sapwood."
Please note: Calibrated is not the same as planed all round, it is fast pre-plane to bring the timber to a regular size and allows an extra 4mm in thickness for final planing and straightening.
