Calibrated QF4 Grade Square Edged Oak (per cubic foot) 23mm
A rustic grade of Calibrated French Oak with large open knots up to 70mm in diameter with some splits and checks. Our calibrated oak timber is supplied by the cubic foot in full sized boards. The boards are supplied in random widths, typically between 190mm to 210mm, depending on stock availability. The board lengths tend to be about 1.8 metres to 2.4 metres, but again may vary due to stock availability.
Our calibrated boards have had a fast pre-plane to bring the timber to a regular size. If you require timber in specific widths or with a fully planed finish, we would recommend our planed all round oak timber.
Please note: A more detailed description of the grading of this timber is outlined below, however, if you would like further information please contact us on 01535 637755.
Calibrated French Oak QF4 Grade is a rustic grade of timber with large open knots up to 70mm in diameter with some splits and checks. The boards are kiln dried to 9-11% moisture content and carefully stored in our heated and acclimatised factory.
The QF4 grade quality adheres to the following criteria:
"Sound open knots up to 70mm in diameter permitted without any restrictions. Tolerance for two dead or unsound knots, one less than 35mm and the other less than 20mm. Wane permitted up to 10% of the width and 20% of the length. Excluded: rot, holes."
Please note: Calibrated is not the same as planed all round, it is fast pre-plane to bring the timber to a regular size and allows an extra 4mm in thickness for final planing and straightening.
