Solid Oak Waney Edged Window Board / Shelf
Our beautiful waney-edged window boards are supplied ready cut and sanded flat but with the natural rustic side of the plank left untouched. The edge can be smoothed and finished on site as desired using a spokeshave and abrasive paper. The window boards are supplied unoiled.
Please note: As the waney edge of the board is supplied naturally, not all edges will have the full bark left on, as you can see in the photos; each board will vary - dependent on the boards that we have in stock at the time of manufacture.
A waney-edged window board manufactured from solid prime grade European Oak in the length, width and thickness of your choice. European Oak has a light honey tone which displays natural grain and figuring and some small knots.
At ground floor level we would always recommend using a damp proof membrane (visqueen) between the concrete base and the window sill to prevent moisture tracking through. The window sill can then be screwed to the concrete base and the holes filled with a cross-grain plug which gives a very neat finish.
Please note: As the waney edge of the board is supplied naturally, not all edges will have the full bark left on, as you can see in the photos; each board will vary - dependent on the boards that we have in stock at the time of manufacture.
Our timber is sourced from FSC certified saw mills in France, and is kiln-dried to an average moisture content of 8-10%. The timber is stored, before and after machining, in our heated and humidity controlled factory. On delivery, the boards should be taken straight indoors into a warm, dry, heated property and should not be stored anywhere that can affect the moisture content in the timber (e.g. garage or outbuilding).
We can machine matching skirting boards, architraves, door linings and floors. We can also machine planed-all-round timber for the manufacture of window casings and frames, however, the manufacture of full window frames is not something we are able to offer at present.

Storage information
Our timber is kiln-dried and should not be stored in a cold, damp environment (e.g. garage, shed or outbuilding) where it could take on moisture. On arrival at your property, the packs should be taken straight indoors into a dry, heated building. All concrete, plaster and wet work should be fully dried out prior to storage and/or installation.
