Quick Overview

Our Provincial Grade Oak Flooring is machined from sustainably-sourced solid European oak timber. After machining, the boards are wire brushed, which raises the grain, producing a tactile, textured surface. The wood has a light biscuit tone and displays an abundance of splits, checks and large knots up 75mm in diameter, which are filled and sanded smooth as standard. If you wish to have the knots left open, please contact our Sales Office who will be happy to discuss this with you.

Board lengths are typically between 1.2m and 2.8m but some may be supplied shorter or longer than that, depending on timber availability at the time of machining.

Our Brushed Provincial Grade European Oak flooring has rich rustic charm and character. It contains a fair amount of natural figuring and an abundance of splits, checks and large knots up to 75mm in diameter, which are filled and sanded smooth as standard. If you wish to have the knots left open, please contact our Sales Office who will be happy to discuss this with you. Due to its rustic appearance our Brushed Provincial Oak Flooring is a popular choice for country cottages, barn conversions and commercial applications such as pubs, restaurants, churches and museums. When finished with oil, the timber has a golden biscuit tone which gives a lovely light and airy feel to any room.

All the raw timber we use is sourced from either PEFC or FSC certfied suppliers. The timber is kiln-dried to a moisture content of 8-10% and kept at an ambient temperature in our heated and humidity controlled factory. All our wood floors are manufactured to order, from the same batch of timber. We pre-plane the boards before final machining which results in accurately machined floorboards which are extremely straight, flat and a pleasure to fit. Mass produced imported floors are not made, or quality controlled, to the same high standards as a British Hardwoods wood floor.

Product and Delivery
I’ve broken my thoughts into 2 categories, the product, and the delivery.

Product: I am very impressed with the quality of the Rustin oak flooring. It’s meet all my expectations of what a Rustin solid oak floor should look and feel like, real wood that looks just that, you can see at a glance the beauty of the oak in its rustin form. It’s transformed the room at a very competitive price. It’s absolutely worth a rating of 5 stars. Well done British Hardwoods.

Delivery: I am very disappointed and frustrated with the delivery company “Pipeline”.
The oak boards where stacked on just 2 pieces of wood at either end, consequently the long boards where bowing in the centre, which ultimately made it much more difficult to lay. I also came across a number of damaged boards, possiblely due to a fork lift hitting them as some damage was central of the boards.
I see this as a lack of due care and attention to detail when loading goods. I am amazed how expensive the delivery is especially when handled poorly by Pipeline. My rating for delivery is 1 star.

Superb product
Fabulous quality, thick, chunky floor planks, wide and long. Looks fantastic in my period home. My fitter commented that it was dream to fit. For the quality I felt it was not expensive. Very expensive delivery, though.

Very satisfied overall
Overall I was very satisfied with the floor which when fitted has plenty of character. The knots and splits are what gives this floor its unique appeal and was particularly suitable for our newly built oak framed barn. However I was a little disappointed at quite a large number of heavily knotted boards which had holes where the knots had fallen out during manufacture which made fitting the floor more laborious. Inevitably with more cutting there is more wastage hence I have given value for money only four stars.
