A unique hardwood floor which has timeless appeal and beauty. The heartwood ranges from light to dark reddish brown which contrasts beautifully with the paler creamy-coloured sapwood. The boards are available in a random width which adds to the look of the floor. The boards are fairly light when first machined but will darken significantly over the first twelve months, developing a rich, burnished auburn colour. Due to this dramatic colour change, areas of the floor which are covered by furnishings may show lighter than uncovered areas of the floor.
All the raw timber we use is sourced from either PEFC or FSC certfied suppliers. The timber is kiln-dried to a moisture content of 8-10% and kept at an ambient temperature in our heated and humidity controlled factory. All our wood floors are manufactured to order, from the same batch of timber. We pre-plane the boards before final machining which results in accurately machined floorboards which are extremely straight, flat and a pleasure to fit. Mass produced imported floors are not made, or quality controlled, to the same high standards as a British Hardwoods wood floor.

- Excellent quality natural product
Before finally deciding on this type of flooring, we looked at samples of many different products and finishes. The advantages of American Cherry from British Hardwoods are that it is supplied in lengths sufficient to span multiple wooden joists directly, and it is thick enough to be used structurally without any need to lay a substrate. With a few coats of Osmo Hardwax Oil, it darkens naturally to give a rich finish which is much more resistant to scratching than lighter woods which have been stained. The quality of production is excellent, and the tongue and grooved boards fit together easily. The possibility to lay random widths as supplied and cut to random lengths makes it possible to lay a floor of character. No one will mistake it for engineered wood or laminate!
