Prime American Cherry Solid Wood Flooring
Our Prime Cherry Flooring is machined from sustainably sourced solid American cherry timber. The wood displays warm colour tones, a subtle grain pattern and minimal knots.
Due to its unique nature our solid cherry flooring is usually only available as a random width floor. Board lengths are generally between 2m and 3m but some may be supplied shorter than that, depending on timber availability at the time of machining.
A unique hardwood floor which has timeless appeal and beauty. The heartwood ranges from light to dark reddish brown which contrasts beautifully with the paler creamy-coloured sapwood. The boards are available in a random width which adds to the look of the floor. The boards are fairly light when first machined but will darken significantly over the first twelve months, developing a rich, burnished auburn colour. Due to this dramatic colour change, areas of the floor which are covered by furnishings may show lighter than uncovered areas of the floor.
Our solid cherry wood flooring is available in random width boards. Random width floors look extremely appealing and the effect can greatly enhance the appearance of the finished floor. The boards are usually supplied in a roughly equal linear meterage of 89mm, 114mm, and 140mm widths (though this may occasionally vary, depending on raw materials). When fitting a random width floor, you should lay full rows of each individual width. You will need to allow a little more wastage than when fitting a single width floor; we recommend a minimum of 15%.
All the raw timber we use is sourced from either PEFC or FSC certfied suppliers. The timber is kiln-dried to a moisture content of 8-10% and kept at an ambient temperature in our heated and humidity controlled factory. All our wood floors are manufactured to order, from the same batch of timber. We pre-plane the boards before final machining which results in accurately machined floorboards which are extremely straight, flat and a pleasure to fit. Mass produced imported floors are not made, or quality controlled, to the same high standards as a British Hardwoods wood floor.
