Band Sawn Classic Grade Solid Oak Flooring
Our Band Sawn Classic Grade Oak Flooring is machined from sustainably-sourced solid European oak timber. After machining, the face of the boards are laterally sawn, creating a tactile, textured surface with a striking band-sawn appearance. European Oak has a light biscuit tone and displays a pleasing mix of small open knots (up to 25mm in diameter) and scatterings of pip. The knots can be filled with a durable resin filler if preferred. When finished with oil, the natural colour of the oak takes on a warm biscuit tone.
Our Band Sawn Classic Oak Flooring is available in a choice of narrow board or wide board floor, for full information see below.
We manufacture all our wood floors to order to ensure that every board is machined from the same batch of timber. Occasionally, the raw timber batch comes in to us a little wider or a little narrower than usual. Individual boards in each batch are always the same width but may not be exactly 150mm or 185mm.
Narrow Board Oak Floors
Supplied as a single width narrow board (i.e. each board you receive will be exactly the same width). The width supplied is dependent on timber availability at the time of manufacture, but is typically 150mm. Ocassionally, the raw timber batch is a little narrower and produces a 140mm finished width. If you are matching up to a floor we've previously supplied, or if it is important to you that your boards are exactly 150mm wide, please contact us to discuss availability.
Wide Board Oak Floors
Supplied as a single width wide board (i.e. each board you receive will be exactly the same width). The width supplied is dependent on timber availability at the time of manufacture, but is typically 185mm. Occasionally, the raw timber batch can be a little wider or narrower, but generally by not more than 5%. If you are matching up to a floor we've previously supplied, or if it is important to you that your boards are exactly 185mm wide, please contact us to discuss availability.
Board Lengths
Our solid oak floorboards are supplied in random lengths, usually between 1.5m and 2.5m. Some boards may be supplied longer or shorter than that, depending on raw timber stocks at the time of machining.
All the raw timber we use is sourced from either PEFC or FSC certfied suppliers. The timber is kiln-dried to a moisture content of 8-11% and kept at an ambient temperature in our heated and humidity controlled factory. Our accurately machined floorboards are tongued and grooved on all four edges and can be laid as a structural, load-bearing floor, if required. Every wood floor is made at our premises here in Yorkshire by our skilled wood machinists who ensure that each board is extremely straight, flat and a pleasure to fit. Mass produced, imported floors are not made or quality controlled to the same high standards as a British Hardwoods wood floor.
