Details
Our Classic Grade European Oak is a stunning floor displaying a well-spaced scattering of natural figuring, small knots and pip which can be up to 25mm in diameter. With its robust characteristics and timeless beauty, it has been a favourite among our customers for years.
When finished with oil, the natural colour of the timber is a golden biscuit tone which gives a lovely light and airy feel to any room.
All the raw timber we use is sourced from either PEFC or FSC certfied suppliers. The timber is kiln-dried to a moisture content of 8-10% and kept at an ambient temperature in our heated and humidity controlled factory. All our wood floors are manufactured to order, from the same batch of timber. We pre-plane the boards before final machining which results in accurately machined floorboards which are extremely straight, flat and a pleasure to fit. Mass produced imported floors are not made, or quality controlled, to the same high standards as a British Hardwoods wood floor.

- Very happy customer
-
As a DIY enthusiast of only average ability, I was slightly apprehensive at the challenge of laying solid oak flooring for my new home office. It was worth the gamble. The boards delivered were all top quality, looked beautiful and were not warped at all, which enabled me to screw them down without difficulty. I used a very good quality underlay which also helped. I thoroughly recommend British Hardwoods. Quite pricey, but worth it for the quality. Hoping it will look good for years to come.

Visited factory showroom and greeted by very helpful and friendly staff. Bought the oak flooring and now fitted by our joiner. They were easy and quick to install and have added great value to our new kitchen area.

Looks good, all boards laid easily, sometimes having to choose 3rd or 4th choice with 2.3m lengths. A little disappointed in that no medullary rays are visible, they appear only in the width of the boards. I guess that quarter sawn boards would have been much more expensive. I had a small panic over the 45mm Tongue Tite screws, having replaced the MDF floor last year due to a heating pipe rupture. 3/4 of the area is fixed with 32mm Tongue Tite screws. I used the building paper, but already have two plastic membranes just below the MDF and at ground level. All together a fabulous product. Looks good, installs easily (apart from the wear and tear on my knees), and I can start dumping all the carpet.

The delivery driver was excellent, very informative and very passionate about working for this company (Graham, I think). The wood itself is amazing quality and finish is exactly what I was after. The length of planks is what drew me to British Hardwoods and I cannot fault their service, ordering and payment system. Overall very happy with the product, highly recommended.

Not perfect. There were a few tight fits on the tongue and groove. A bit of damage that had to be cleaned out . One board with damage on the face but the surface finish was good and the floor went down well. British Hardwoods is a great improvement on my previous supplier and I won't bother looking anywhere else from now on.

I have just finished fitting the floor, the 'wastage' was more like 1% rather than 10% and I have quite a bit left. The sizes we from 50cm to >3metres which was excellent, the wax finish we chose was a good decision as it is a great time saver and professionally applied. The floor looks really great.
Price Quality Value - British Hardwoods remains clearly the best supplier of long oak floorboards
-
Long oak boards are getting increasingly difficult to obtain but British Hardwoods continues to supply them at a price that competes with the short pieces from other suppliers. Customer service is exemplary; delivery is quick. I've fitted a number of British Hardwoods floors and they have all been stable.

We chose the 185mm planks as there is a largish room of 20 sq.m. In general the good product is very good and, in buying an extra 10% we had some choice as one or two planks were unusable being bowed, especially those with more knots. A few 'machine marks' needed sanding.
Price Quality Value - Beautiful finish
-
While these boards may be expensive, the quality is sublime and I would say they are excellent value for money. I bought the pre finished boards and the quality of the finish is excellent, couldn't be happier.
Price Quality Value - High quality oak flooring
-
I would recommend this high quality oak flooring beautiful to work with, well worth every penny. I laid 40 m² straight onto joists using tongue tite screws. Lay dpc/building paper on to joist before fitting oak flooring.
