Fumed Antique Wave Solid European Oak Flooring
A distinctive undulating and lightly brushed dark oak floor machined from carefully selected classic grade boards. The timber displays a pleasing mix of small open knots (up to 25mm in diameter) and scatterings of pip. The floor can be supplied with an optional hardwax oil finish or supplied unoiled - ready to take a finish of your own choice.
The boards are a standard 185mm wide and are tongue and grooved on all four edges. Board lengths are typically between 1.8m and 2.8m but some may be supplied shorter or longer than that, depending on timber availability at the time of machining.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to this floor's undulating surface the filling of the knots is not an option and in knottier areas the boards may feel coarse to the touch.
Our Fumed Antique Wave Oak Flooring is machined from solid classic grade European oak timber. After machining the boards are lightly brushed, producing a tactile textured surface. The boards are then fumed, a chemical process which darkens the wood, creating a pleasing mix of dark oak shades. Different boards and different batches of timber will react differently to the fuming process, and as such the wood will not have a uniform colour. Photographs on the website and samples are provided for guidance only - we can not guarantee an exact colour match. If you wish to obtain a uniform dark tone we recommend the use of a stain rather than fuming.
All the raw timber we use is sourced from either PEFC or FSC certfied suppliers. The timber is kiln-dried to a moisture content of 8-10% and kept at an ambient temperature in our heated and humidity controlled factory. All our wood floors are manufactured to order, from the same batch of timber. We pre-plane the boards before final machining which results in accurately machined floorboards which are extremely straight, flat and a pleasure to fit. Mass produced imported floors are not made, or quality controlled, to the same high standards as a British Hardwoods wood floor.
