Fumed Engineered Classic Oak Flooring 15mm
A beautiful fumed engineered oak floor machined from FSC certified classic grade European oak. The timber has a rich dark tone with a distinctive grain pattern and natural figuring. Whilst most of the floor will contain minimal knots, some boards will display small filled knots and scatterings of pip, which enhance the natural beauty of the wood. The boards can be supplied with an optional hardwax oil finish or supplied unoiled - ready to take a finish of your own choice.
Board width: 185mm | Thickness: 15mm | Average board length: 2.4m
We are proud to be one of the very few companies who manufacture engineered hardwood flooring in the UK. Our 15mm Fumed Engineered Classic Grade Oak flooring comprises a 3mm top layer of French oak bonded, using a high quality D4 adhesive, onto a base of 12mm moisture resistant medium-density fibreboard. This results in a hardwood floor that is far more tolerant to changes in temperature and relative humidity and displays little or no movement due to the cross bonding of layers. Our Engineered Oak retains the natural look and feel of solid oak flooring with the added benefit of strength and stability throughout. Due to its robust structural properties, our Engineered Oak flooring is ideal for installation in conjunction with under-floor heating systems.
After machining, the boards are fumed, a chemical process which darkens the base colour of the raw wood. Each board will react differently to the fuming process, producing a natural range of dark, medium and lighter shades; we recommend loose laying boards before fixing to achieve an even spread of tones. Different batches of timber will also react differently to the fuming process, and as such, photographs on the website and samples are provided for guidance only - we can not guarantee an exact colour match.
All our wood floors are manufactured to order in our temperature controlled factory in Yorkshire. The timber is kiln-dried to a moisture content of 8-10%, thus making it compatible for use within a warm, dry property. We pre-plane the boards before final machining which results in accurately machined floorboards which are extremely straight, flat and a pleasure to fit. Mass produced imported floors are not made, or quality controlled, to the same high standards as a British Hardwoods wood floor.
