We have received some wonderful photos from our friend Anthony Griffiths showing his recent wood carving creations. Each piece is curious and unique and we are completely in awe of his intricate craftsmanship.
'Who Ate All The Pies?' - this beautiful lion has been created by laminating oak offcuts.
'Ellina The Aerialist' has a heavy pendulum in the column and a steel rod running up her leg to keep her balancing on her high wire!
'Carved in Stone' which is mainly made from oak and lime. We love the detail in the oak workbench and floorboards.
'The Treaty of Wedmore' showing the Viking leader Guthrun on the right (who has to change his name to Athalstan and convert to Christianity as part of the deal) and Alfred the Great - you can tell the former is not happy as he has buried his dagger in Alfred's best table!
'Building a Sheep Fold' is Anthony's first creation that features painted characters. We love the green wellies and blue cape!
We would like to thank Anthony for sending these lovely photos and allowing us to share them. We have more photos to share with you on a future post, so keep an eye on our Blog.
