Sawn American Tulipwood (per cubic foot)
Our Rough Sawn American Tulipwood (commonly known as Tulip Poplar) is supplied by the cubic foot in full sized boards. The boards are supplied in random widths, typically between 175mm and 250mm, but this can vary depending on timber stocks at the time of placement of order. Board lengths tend to be around 2.1 metres to 3 metres, but again can vary.
Tulipwood is a strong and versatile timber with a multitude of applications and is suitable for painting and staining. Any surface marks due to the kiln drying process will cover well when painted.
Guide to Cubic Foot Calculation:
An average 3m x 8" x 1" board equates to 0.55 cubic foot
Our American Tulipwood is a paint/framing grade and is sustainably sourced from the best sawmills in the USA. It is a stable timber which is very strong for its weight and is commonly used for painted kitchen cabinets, doors, panelling, mouldings, woodturning and carving. Tulipwood is virtually knot free and its very fine grain pattern makes it an ideal hardwood for painted finishes. Our sawn tulipwood boards are kiln-dried to an average moisture content of between 9-11% and carefully stored in our heated and acclimatised factory.
Properties
A versatile hardwood that is easy to machine, plane, turn, glue and bore. The wood is very light (around 490kg per cubic metre) but is very strong and stable.
