Sawn Prime Canadian Maple (per cubic foot)
Our Rough Sawn Canadian Maple Timber is supplied by the cubic foot in full sized boards. The boards are supplied in random widths, typically between 90mm and 200mm, but this can vary depending on our timber stocks at the time of placement of order. The board lengths tend to be around 2.4 metres to 3 metres, but again can vary. If you wish to place an order, please contact us to obtain a current guide to stock availability.
If you require timber in specific widths or with a fully planed finish, we would recommend our planed all round maple timber.
Please Note: It is to be expected that the sawn boards will display watermarking due to the kiln drying process. This completely natural phenomenon occurs as the water dries out from the timber. This natural surface marking, along with any others marks, will be removed when you plane and/or sand the boards.
Guide to Cubic Foot Calculation:
An average 3m x 5" x 1" board equates to 0.35 cubic foot
Our Rough Sawn Maple Timber is sourced from the very best sawmills in Canada. The timber is a prime grade though may contain the occasional small knot. The timber may also have splits due to the kiln-drying process. Knots and splits in rough sawn stock are not considered defects because good cutting can be achieved around these natural features. The wood has a fairly uniform light peach/tan tone with a pale wavy grain pattern. The boards are carefully stored in our heated and acclimatised factory giving an average moisture content of between 9-11%.

Properties
It has medium stiffness, is rated high in all other strength categories. The hard maples are about 35% harder than the soft maples, and are resistant to abrasion. It is rated as satisfactory for glueing and polishing, and requires pre-boring for nailing and screwing.
Typical Uses
Furniture, musical instruments and interior joinery. Because of its resistance to abrasion, hard maple is suitable for heavy-duty flooring and is used for roller-skating rinks, dance floors, squash courts and bowling alleys. It is also used for butcher's block, rollers in the textile industry, sporting goods, casks and woodenware.
